Specialist Dentistry Educational Program is meant to generate Specialist Dentist having impressive nationalism spirit and :

1. Personality which give priority to integrity; appropriate scientific ethics and professional ethics orientation; and national and international perceptive/insight.
2. Awareness toward social issues, particularly relating to its specialization.
3. Knowledge and skill to manage dental and oral health case requiring special service in conform to its specialization.
4. Ability to cooperate and work in a team with other specialist staffs to gain more references and contribution in dealing with specific cases for the importance of patient health.
5. Ability to keep on improving self-activity and self-creativity to support the specialization development.
6. Ability to determine, make plan, and perform education program independently to promote its specialization.
7. Awareness to constantly improve and hold up high the standard of professional practice.

Faculty of Dentistry University of Airlangga, academic year 2004/2005 undertakes the specialist dentistry educational program for 7 (seven) majors as hereunder :

1. Orthodontics Program
2. Oral surgery Program
3. Periodontics Program
4. Pedodontics Program
5. Dental Conservation Program
6. Prosthodontics Program
7. Oral Disease Program

Educational program is held pursuant to Decree of Directorate General No. 139/ Dikti/ Kep/ 1984 and No. 141/ Dikti/ Kep/ 1984.

1. Orthodontics Program : 63 credits / 6 semester
2. Oral surgery Program : 178 credits / 16 semester
3. Periodontics Program : 178 credits / 5 semester
4. Pedodontics Program : 54 credits / 5 semester
5. Dental Conservation Program : 54 credits / 5 semester
6. Prosthodontics Program : 55 credits / 5 semester
7. Oral Disease Program : 51 credits / 5 semester

1. Orthodontics Program

1. Dentofacial orthopaedics, clinical orthodontics,
2. Various kind of treatment technique, Multidiscipline treatment on specific cases such as : cleft lip, cleft palate, orthognatic surgery, etc.
3. Resolve various cases of of dentomaxillofacial anomaly
2. Oral. Surgery Program

• • General/basic subjects : 36 credits
• • Major subjects I : 104 credits

Clinical medicine and oral surgery cover among others : Surgical treatment for :

1. Dentogene and non-dentogene infection, cyst, impaction.
2. Maxillary and oral neoplasm, maxillofacial, and oral trauma, temporomandibular joint, nerve, and saliva gland anomaly.
3. Genetic, growth and development anomaly
4. Orthognatic surgery, pre-prosthodontic surgery
5. Periodontics Program

• General/basic subjects : 6 credits
• Supporting subjects : 13 credits
• Major subjects : 34 credits

which covers among others :

1. Oral infection
2. Periodontal disease epidemiology
3. Implantology
4. Relation of perio-restoration, perio-ortho, and perio-prostho
5. Gingivectomy, flap surgery, bone grafting, gingival grafting, mucogingiva surgery, GTR, treatment for patient with systemic anomaly, and treatment for old-aged patient.

4. Pedodontics Program

2. 2. Dental treatment for normal and disabled/retarded children

Prerequisite of Participant Nominee

• Graduate from Faculty of Dentistry, State or Private University (have or haven?t engaged in permanent staff employment)
• Be able to accomplish the study period (especially for) Oral Surgery Program not later than 30 (thirty) years.
• Have the proficiency in Indonesian language and English
